A Travellerspoint blog

21 September 2010

Well, we're back with the other rally cars. We broke camp this morning and only had about 40kms to drive to the Russian border. We had to go through the Mongolian Customs and Immigration, then line up again for the Mongolian Military. We are now in line for the Russian Military, then Russian Customs and Immigration. We estimate it will be at least another two hours before we are cleared into Russia, then it’s approximately a seven hour drive to our overnight stay at Belokurikha Resort. 3 a.m. before our heads hit the pillow I'm afraid. Unfortunately, Colin is feeling the effects of his Mongolian diet, but can now drink water again without problem(s). We're hoping he might tackle an apple a bit later…

Note: Ron's translation of Val's interpretation of a recent phone call from Norm. :)

Great to hear that you are back in the rally. It must feel good to be in your own car again. Sorry to learn that Colin is not at his best but I am sure it will pass.
Did you buy any good stuff on your days off or see any good sites?
Bought some off that Tio Pepe at considerable cost. Nice joke, I sure fell for it. Are there any other uses for the reminder? Don't like to pour it down the sink as I understand it might finish up polluting the ocean. But a GOOD friend bought me a very nice singular malt back from Scotland so have been able to forget the sherry joke.

Happy holiday,
Malcolm

Hi Norm and Colin,

Jim Fanning has put us on to the links to follow your incredible adventures.

Norm, that car of your must make the Aramax roll former seem like childs play.

I agree with Jim's comments of a few days back that all the delays have given you guys some great local insights that most of the other rally participants will have missed out on.

I am looking forward to the time when we are all next on Malcolm's back deck gathered around a roasting spit, some red wines and a photo album as you give us all the colour and background on your adventures.

Cheers,
Brett
